Gentle tourism, for us, means leaving a place better than we found it. The houses you sleep in were old barns, cellars and cottages — restored by hand with recycled materials and the crafts of the Basto region, rather than torn down and rebuilt.

It also means buying our bread, cheese and wine from the families around us, employing local people, and keeping the herd, the gardens and the orchards alive. When you stay with us, you become part of that quiet economy — and the landscape stays exactly as it should.
