A farm that stayed itself
For three generations this was a working quinta in the green heart of Basto. We never turned it into a hotel — we simply opened its doors, one restored house at a time.
We could have knocked it down and built something new. Instead we kept the granite, the chestnut beams and the old cellar barrels — and let the farm teach us how to host.
Old dwellings, kept by hand
Every one of our houses began as something else — a barn, a wine cellar, a caretaker's cottage. We restored them slowly, by hand, with recycled materials and furniture from the region, so the stone and the wood are exactly where they have always been.
The straw barn where children once played became an eco house with walls of straw bale, lime and sand. The cellar barrels became beds. Nothing was thrown away that could be kept.
Teresa & Paulo
“Get your hands in the soil, feed the animals, and live a little closer to the land.”
We live here, on the farm, with our family and our animals. We bake the bread, tend the gardens, walk the cows at dusk and pour the wine after dark. When you stay, you're not a booking number — you're a guest in a place we love, and we'll treat you that way.
Our wish is simple: that you leave a little slower, a little kinder, and already planning your return.
A gentler kind of tourism
We're a working farm first, and a place to stay second. That order is the whole point.
Kept, not replaced
Eco restoration with straw bale, lime, recycled materials and regional craft — preserving the farm's character instead of erasing it.
A real working farm
Thirty-plus Barrosã cows in the pasture, vegetable gardens, fresh eggs and bread from the oven — the slow rhythm of the countryside, lived for real.
Rooted in the region
The wool, the barrels, the carpentry, the people — we work with the artisans and families of Cabeceiras de Basto, and we hire and train locally.
Quietly, the world noticed
We didn't set out to win prizes — but caring for the land and our guests has been generously recognised.
The rest is best told in person
Come stay where the countryside still keeps its own time — meet the cows, taste the bread, and let us show you the farm we love.
